The Foreteller - Isaiah ()

Bo Grace, December 4, 2016
Part of the Characters with Character series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The person we will look at today is not usually included in the Christmas plays we see this time of year. You don’t often see him depicted on any of the Christmas cards. But this character “knew” in an unusual way about the birth of Christ long before Mary, Joseph, angels, or wise men. God gave him a glimpse into the manger and ministry hundreds of years before Jesus was born. He was an Old Testament writer, prophet, theologian, orator and so much more. Not all prophets are foretellers. The word actually means “forth teller.” Isaiah however was a “foreteller,” and thus the title of this message: THE FORETELLER. His name means “Jehovah is Helper” or “Salvation is of the Lord.” Sometimes he is referred to as the Old Testament evangelist. Today, we look into the life and ministry of a CHARACTER WITH CHARACTER – Isaiah, and his great contribution to the Christmas story.
