God Against You ()

Part of the series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

One of our favorite verses in the Bible says: “…if God is for us, who is against us…?” When we look at the whole text it says:

Romans 8:31-32 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

As I have said many times, “If God is for us, then it really doesn’t matter who is against us. You and God really are a majority.”
But, look at the text again, and notice the first word of the part we are talking about:
“IF God is for us, then who is against us?”
That little Greek word means “conditionality.” The implication is that IF God is for us, then there is also the possibility that He can be against us… not a very pleasant thought, but a very important thought nonetheless.
I want to be a part of the “us” that God is for… not against, so we need to understand what it takes for God to be against us.
